Pingshi

Pingshi is a town in the Shaoguan prefecture, Guangdong.

Pingshi was called Pingshi county during the Southern and Northern Dynasties. The county district was 4 km from the Sanxingping Village Committee. Now it serves as a prominent border trade and transit point for Guangdong, Hunan and Jiangxi provinces. It borders Wujiang River's eastern and northern shores.

Pingshi lies at the intersection of the Beijing-Guangzhou railroad and the Wuhan-Guangzhou . Many times daily, trains go south to Guangzhou, north to Zhengzhou, west to Lanzhou and east to Shanghai. Large roads that pass through Pingshi include a Beijing-Zhuhai highway, state road 107 and the 247 and 248 provincial roads. City bridges include Pingshi Bridge, Futian Bridge, Pingmei Bridge, Baisha Bridge, etc.

Pingshi's GDP is 1.6 billion yuan. Pingshi B power plant powers the leading enterprises in northern Shaoguan. Major industries of Pingshi include Chinese medicine and zirconium products. There are over 2000 private and individual enterprises.

Pingshi region is rich in tourism resources. It is home to one of the eight wonders of Guangdong, "Jinji Ling" .

Pingshi has abundant resources, honest folk customs, and leading education. It is northern Guangdong's state-level pilot area. It is also Guangdong province's only window town.
